S.E.O is the technic of making a website’s pages findable, rank well in search inventories and by so doing increasing its popularity by submitting its pages or sitemap to webmasters so its pages can be crawled to achieve the purpose of findability.

Search engine optimization should the next step after you have a completely built/designed website. Now imagine that you have your own website and no one knows about it but you wish that the website is seen by everyone. In this situation, if it is not done by SEO then you will have to be sharing your website address to the whole world manually for people to have access to it. This is definitely not possible because by what means if not advertisement can people hear about your website?

Search engine optimization is based on organic search. Organic search result are result displayed by search engines when a query is made and strictly based on the algorithm of the search engine and not affected by advertisement.

A search engine is software program that searches for and identifies items in a database that correspond to keywords or characters specified by the user, used especially for finding particular sites, files/documents on the World Wide Web. This is not to be confused with web browsers. Web browsers are computer programs with a graphical user interface for displaying and navigating between web pages. So in short we can say that web browsers display the search engine results of search engines.

There are so many search engines in the world examples are Google, Bing, Yahoo!, Yandex, DuckDuckGo, Baidu, Ask.com, Naver etc. Examples of web browsers are Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, Safari, Brave etc. Chrome is by Google while Edge is by Microsoft.

Going deeper into search engine popularity, google is undoubtedly the biggest or better still the best search engine in the world. In May 2023, google was announced to have 93.11% of the global search engine market share, meaning google takes about 94% of the total search queries makes by internet users around the world when the market of search engines is taken into consideration. Bing, from the Microsoft being the second on the chart takes a negligible percentage.

The popularity of search engines vary from country to country, in Ghana alone Google takes a whooping 96.84% of the share of search.

Most businesses do well by having their own websites but the problem is they don't have the organic means of popularizing it.
